Aspirational, Joyful, Thriving

An all-through independent school for children from age 4 - 14

School Shouldn’t Crush Curiosity. Most schools teach children to fit into the system. We teach them to shape the world.

At Open Air Education, lessons don’t stop at the classroom door. Our students climb trees, scientifically test water samples, debate under the sky, design projects that matter and grow into thinkers who care about people, the planet and their place in it.

This isn’t just education. It’s curiosity, resilience, creativity and connection built into every day.

We started Open Air Education because we believe childhood is too short to spend behind four walls. Our school exists to raise resilient, curious, compassionate young people who know how to learn, not just how to pass tests.

Because the future needs more than good grades. It needs good humans.

We’re on a mission

As a mission-driven school, we are committed to preparing students for the future by integrating project-based learning, entrepreneurship, leadership skills and active, nature-based education. By embedding real-world projects and hands-on learning, we foster adaptability, problem-solving, and leadership in our students, all while nurturing a deep sense of responsibility for the world around them. Our mission is not just to educate but to empower students to be innovative, future-ready leaders.

Our Why:

Children are born explorers. They climb before they can walk, question before they can talk, imagine before they can write. Traditional schools often iron that out in pursuit of grades.

We won’t.

We exist to keep the spark alive; while ensuring every child achieves academically, feels safe and grows into someone the world truly needs.

Our How:

  • We keep class sizes small, so your child is never invisible.

  • We spend as much time outdoors as indoors, because nature is the best teacher.

  • We teach the MYP curriculum, but we do it through projects that matter; real-world, creative, challenging.

  • We use AI tutors and personalised learning, so no one falls behind, and no one coasts.

Our what:

Yes, we do all the things private schools should:

  • Rigorous English, Maths, Science, Languages.

  • Enrichment in sport, music, drama, design, STEM.

  • Pastoral care that wraps around every child, including SEND support.

    But that’s the what.

What matters more is the feeling:

Your child wakes up excited to come to school. They feel safe enough to take risks. They discover passions that last a lifetime.

We’re not the right school for every family. If you’re looking for rigid tradition, we’re not it.

But if you believe childhood is for exploration, that learning should light a fire, and that your child deserves to be known, challenged and supported, then we’d love to meet you.

Because education isn’t just about what children know; it’s about who they become.

“Our decision to move our children from traditional education to Open Air has been the best choice we've made. After visiting the open day and learning more about the ethos and seeing how passionate Hannah and the teachers were was more than anything we could have ever imagined. The shift has been transformative for them. They're thriving in an environment that not only allows them to be themselves but also encourages them to explore their own interests and ideas. Learning outdoors has given them a newfound sense of freedom and joy, while still covering all the traditional subjects. The blend of academic and hands-on learning has fostered their creativity, curiosity and confidence. The girls go to school happy and come home happy and this alone makes all the difference. We couldn’t be happier with this change, and we’re excited to see them continue to grow in this nurturing and dynamic setting!”
